The Audi Coupe GT &#8211; This was the car I learned how to drive and my first real car I drove in high school. It was a super sweet ride that came over as a grey market car in 1986. I believe there were something like 500 of them brought over to the states. With an inline-5 engine and a slick 5-speed (and some awesome quality leather), this was a super rare and stylish ride at the time. Though the car was originally supposed to be giving to my brother when he graduated college, it got caught on some black ice while I was driving and ended up t-boning a Lincoln. RIP Audi.</p>

The BMW E30 3-Series &#8211; This was my first car ever that I bought myself. I&#8217;ve had 3 of them thus far, including a 1991 318is that&#8217;s sitting in my garage. In my spare time, I&#8217;ve been taking it apart with plans to restore the car and get it out autocrossing. The car is super light, super cheap, efficient and a significant portion of the cars were build before the fall of the Berlin Wall, so they were built like a German tank. There will always be a special place in my heart for these cars.</p>

The BMW 850CSi &#8211; This was my first &#8220;dream&#8221; car. While other kids had Lamborghinis and Ferraris on their wall, I remember watching a MotorWeek on TV back in the early 90s and recall the review of the ultra-exclusive BMW 850CSi. With a supurb 5.6L 12-cylinder engine (later derivatives of the V12 from this BMW were dropped into the McLaren F1), the 850CSi was the peak of german GT performance in the 90s.</p>

The McLaren F1 &#8211; This was my first &#8220;dream&#8221; super-car. This was it. This was the car that embodied everything I wanted in a car. Speed. Handling. The look and a it had been the fastest production car for an incredibly long period of time. Even by today&#8217;s standards, there&#8217;s only a few cars that can match the F1&#8217;s performance. I&#8217;ll take mine in LeMans Orange. Now, all I need is the $4 million these cars are going for these days.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.easyautosales.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/mini_cooper_jcw_gp.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-213" title="mini_cooper_jcw_gp" src="http://blog.easyautosales.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/mini_cooper_jcw_gp.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="98" /></a> 5. &#8220;New&#8221; Mini Cooper &#8211; It&#8217;s one of the most fun, efficient and safe cars I&#8217;ve ever had the chance to drive. In terms of pure performance, it&#8217;s not the fastest car in the world. However, it runs like it&#8217;s on rails, it&#8217;s got tons of low end torque and it just gives you the feeling of being in a much faster and more expensive car. They are just an all around great car! Though the new turbocharged Coopers are fantastic, there&#8217;s something really sweet looking about the previous generation&#8217;s GP edition. Just make sure and get yours without run-flat tires. Just no good&#8230;</p>

Ford F-150 &#8211; Used to have a 1997 Ford F-150 and like the Mini Cooper, there&#8217;s something fun about driving it. You get a king-of-the-road type feeling, super hauling power and the great sound of a rumbling American V8. Due to some &#8220;lemon&#8221; issues with the car, I had to return it to the party I bought it from, but it&#8217;s on my list of cars that will tow my eventual race cars. The F-150 has/had been the best selling car for many years in a row and it&#8217;s no wonder. Though the older cars interior is pretty shady by modern standards, that&#8217;s not why you get a pickup truck.</p>

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder &#8211; In my opinion, one of the most beautiful cars made today. The overt and absurd styling of Lamborghinis crossed with the sex appeal of a drop-top (and reliability of an Audi) make this car exactly what I want to drive along the A1-A on a sunny day with my wife by my side. A car like this is also an investment, as quality Lamborghinis like the Gallardo are sure to keep their value in years to come. Though the Murcielago is the &#8220;big brother,&#8221; many have described it as a powerful, 4WD Elise due to its compact size. I love small cars and this one acts much larger with it&#8217;s 5.0L V10.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m a huge fan of the BMW built Mini Cooper. My mom has a Type S and there&#8217;s very few cars I would feel as safe putting her in. As a bonus, it&#8217;s her all time favorite car she&#8217;s ever owned (and my parents have owned almost 45 cars in almost 50 years of marriage) and I can&#8217;t blame her, the car is a hoot! However, many have questioned how safe the car actually is due to its pint sized chassis. The following pictures should allay any  worries about how safe the Mini Cooper really is:</p>

<blockquote><p><em>These pictures were taken by one of the firemen who were called to the scene, with his camera phone. The officials who responded to the accident could not believe that the Mini (and I) sustained so little damage. The other vehicle involved is a Chevy Tahoe. I was driving south on a one-way street and the other driver was driving west, also on a one-way street. The other driver ran a red light (that had been red for a long time) and appeared in the intersection just in front of me as I came through. I didn&#8217;t even see them. I hit the passenger&#8217;s side of Tahoe head-on, and the Tahoe rolled. In one of the pictures, you can see the Mini-shaped dent in the vehicle that is on its side. The driver of the Tahoe was unhurt and did get a ticket. She was also insured.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>It&#8217;s great to see everyone was ok, but there&#8217;s a certain part of you that has to say, &#8220;Ha! That&#8217;s for acting like you own the road.&#8221; Such a huge portion of the SUV drivers out there act as though they own the road, ignoring other cars while merging, not using turn signals and, as above, running red lights.</p>

<p>Recently we tossed up a poll about hybrid and electric cars. It&#8217;s unfortunate this car was not released a few days earlier, as it has an amazing combination of cache and practicality that could have topped our list. As much as I love the Fisker Karma (and all the great petrol powered cars out there), the Mini is a car I could get used to driving to and from work on a daily basis (and not feel too much of a &#8220;green hippie&#8221;).</p>
<p>As with all initial releases of concept Minis, this one has all the quirky styling queues you&#8217;d expect. Electrical plug logos around the car. An &#8220;electric&#8221; silver and yellow paint scheme. The front grill badge, side vents and a rear electrical &#8220;plug&#8221; logos are distinctively Mini. As for the technical bits, there&#8217;s a 260kg air-cooled battery which replaces the car&#8217;s back seats with the electric motor is up front, ensuring the weight distribution isn&#8217;t affected. This combination creates a 201HP  Mini (162lb-ft @ 0 rpms) with 1465kg (3223lbs) to tow around. This translates into just over 8 seconds from 0-60MPH. Top speed is just 95mph which occurs at the Mini E&#8217;s 12,500rpm rev limiter. A full recharge should take about two and a half hours, with a 150 mile range achievable with combined driving.</p>
<p>For now, Mini is making 500 Es, which are being distributed to drivers in California, New York and <a href="http://www.carinsurancerates.com/states">New Jersey</a> on a leasing scheme so that BMW can analyse their performance and make necessary developments. More from Mini directly below.</p>

<p>Woodcliff Lake, NJ &#8211; October 18, 2008&#8230; The BMW Group will be the world&#8217;s first manufacturer of premium automobiles to deploy a fleet of some 500 all-electric vehicles for private use in daily traffic. The MINI E will be powered by a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor fed by a high-performance rechargeable lithium-ion battery, transferring its power to the front wheels via a single-stage helical gearbox nearly without a sound and entirely free of emissions. Specially engineered for automobile use, the battery technology will have a range of more than 240 kilometers, or 150 miles. The MINI E will initially be made available to select private and corporate customers as part of a pilot project in the US states of California, New York and New Jersey. The possibility of offering the MINI E in Europe as well is currently being considered. <p>The MINI E&#8217;s electric drive train produces a peak torque of 220 Newton meters, delivering seamless acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 152 km/h (95 mph). Featuring a suspension system tuned to match its weight distribution, the MINI E sports the brand&#8217;s hallmark agility and outstanding handling.</p>
<p>By introducing the MINI E, the BMW Group is underscoring the resolve with which it works towards reducing energy consumption and emissions in road traffic. The BMW Group is drawing on its unique technological expertise in the field of drive systems to develop a vehicle concept enabling zero emissions without renouncing the joy of driving. Putting some 500 cars on the road under real daily traffic conditions will make it possible to gain widely applicable hands-on experience. Evaluating these findings will generate valuable know-how, which will be factored into the engineering of mass-produced vehicles.</p>
<p>The BMW Group aims to start series production of all-electric vehicles over the medium term as part of its Number ONE strategy. The development of innovative concepts for mobility in big-city conurbations within the scope of &#8220;project i&#8221; has a similar thrust, as its objective also includes making use of an all-electric power train.</p>

<p>Based on the current MINI, the car will initially be available as a two-seater. The space taken up by back-seat passengers in the series model has been reserved for the lithium-ion battery. When in use in the zero-emissions MINI, the battery unit combines high output with ample storage capacity and a small footprint with power ratios that are unrivalled in this field of application so far. The lithium-ion storage unit will have a maximum capacity of 35 kilowatt hours (kWh) and transmit energy to the electric motor as direct current at a nominal 380 volts. The rechargeable battery is made up of 5,088 cells grouped into 48 modules. These modules are packaged into three battery elements that are compactly arranged inside the MINI E.</p>
<p>The energy storage unit&#8217;s basic components are based on the technological principle that has proven itself in practice in power supplies for mobile phones and portable computers. The MINI E&#8217;s lithium-ion battery can be plugged into all standard power outlets. Its charge time is strongly dependent on the voltage and amperage of the electricity flowing through the grid. In the USA, users can recharge a battery that has been completely drained within a very short period of time using a wallbox that will ship with every MINI E. The wallbox will be installed in the customer&#8217;s garage, enable higher amperage, and thus provide for extremely short charging times. Wallboxes fully recharge batteries after a mere two-and-a-half hours.</p>
<p>Driven by electricity: reliably, affordably and free of emissions.</p>
<p>A full recharge draws a maximum of 28 kilowatt hours of electricity from the grid. Based on the car&#8217;s range, a kilowatt hour translates into 5.4 miles. Besides the benefit of zero-emissions driving, the MINI E thus offers significant economic advantages over a vehicle powered by a conventional internal combustion engine as well.</p>
<p>The heavy-duty battery delivers its power to an electric motor, which transforms it into thrilling agility. Mounted transversely under the MINI E&#8217;s bonnet, the drive train unleashes its full thrust from a dead standstill. This provides for the car&#8217;s fascinating launch capability. The MINI E&#8217;s intense driving experience is augmented by its dynamic deceleration potential, which is also directly coupled to the accelerator pedal. As soon as the driver releases the gas pedal, the electric motor acts as a generator. This results in braking force, and the power recovered from the kinetic energy is fed back to the battery. This interaction ensures extremely comfortable drives – especially at medium speed with constant, but marginal, variation. In city traffic, some 75 percent of all deceleration can be done without the brakes. Making substantial use of this energy recuperation feature extends the car&#8217;s range by up to 20 percent.</p>
<p>Signature MINI agility in a new guise.</p>
<p>Weighing in at 1,465 kilograms (3.230 lbs), the MINI E has an even weight distribution. Minor modifications made to the suspension ensure safe handling at all times. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system has been adapted to this model&#8217;s specific wheel loads.</p>
<p>The MINI E&#8217;s brake system comes with a newly developed electric underpressure pump. Its Electrical Power Assisted Steering (EPS) is the same as the one used in mass-produced MINIs. Both brake and steering assistance react to driving conditions and are thus extremely efficient. Even the air conditioning&#8217;s electrical compressor only operates if desired or necessary.</p>
<p>Design: unmistakably MINI, undoubtedly new.</p>
<p>At first glance, the MINI E is obviously an iteration of the brand. But its design, which is the blueprint for the zero-emissions two-seater, has been complemented by a number of visual cues that point to its revolutionary drive concept. All of the units produced for the pilot project will have the same paintwork and bear a serial number on their front fenders.</p>
<p>The MINI E&#8217;s coachwork sports an exclusive combination of metallic Dark Silver on all panels but the roof, which is clad in Pure Silver. What distinguishes the zero-emissions MINI is a specially designed logo in Interchange Yellow, depicting a stylized power plug in the shape of an &#8220;E&#8221; set against the silver backdrop. It has been applied to the roof, in smaller dimensions to the front and back, to the charger port lid, the dashboard trim, and – combined with the MINI logo – to the door jamb, in slightly modified form. The color of the roof edges, mirror housings, interior style cues and seat seams will match the logo&#8217;s yellow tone as well.</p>

<p>The electric drive&#8217;s high-voltage technology requires that maintenance work be done by qualified personnel using special tools that are not included in MINI service partners&#8217; standard toolboxes. In light of this, a service base will be set up on both coasts, staffed by service engineers that are specially trained to perform maintenance and repair work on the MINI E&#8217;s electrical components. In the event of drive malfunction, these experts will provide professional support at the customer&#8217;s local MINI dealer or the service base&#8217;s specially equipped workshop. Technical inspections will take place after 3,000 miles (just under 5,000 kilometers) and at least after six months.</p>
